Creamy Chickpea of the Sea Salad!

Chickpeas are a sustainable, delicious, and healthy base for this classically flavored recipe. This quick meal features lots of flavor from pickles, relish, celery, dill and healthy Life Foods products: Aloha Kraut, White and Yellow, plus the added mineral bonus and ocean flavor from our seaweed-based Superfoods Gomasio.

Chickpeas are a sustainable, delicious, and healthy base for this classically flavored recipe. Ingredients
  • 4 cups cooked chickpeas
  • ½ cup Life Foods White
  • ½ cup Life Foods Aloha Kraut finely chopped
  • ½ cup celery finely chopped
  • ½ cup dill pickles finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp sweet relish
  • 2 tbsp red onion minced
  • 2 tbsp Life Foods Superfood Gomasio
  • 1 tbsp Life Foods Yellow
  • 1 tbsp dill fresh or dried
  • black pepper to taste
  • bread or buns of choice

  • 1 tbsp Life Foods Yellow
  • 1 tbsp dill fresh or dried

Instructions
  1. If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse well. Place chickpeas in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped (alternatively, mash with a fork until coarsely chopped).
  2. Turn out chickpeas into a large bowl. Stir in White, Aloha Kraut, celery, pickles, relish, onions, Gomasio, Yellow, dill and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Taste and add more salt, pepper or dill if desired.
  3. Toast bread or buns lightly. Top with chickpea mixture and serve immediately.
  4. Alternatively, serve with crackers, in wraps or atop salads . Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to four days.
Recipe Notes

This delicious vegan salad makes a quick dinner, but also stores well for quick snacks. Serve on a sandwich, in a wrap or just as a dip. The natural seaweeds in our Superfoods Gomasio gives it an ocean flavor and adds a ton of healthy trace minerals and iodine into our diet. White, our taro and kraut mayo, features a classic mayo tang with a healthy vegetable base. Likewise, our Yellow includes a burst of fresh flavor and nutrients from the fermented carrots and turmeric. Aloha Kraut sneaks in a few fermented veggies to make this a super healthy snack or dinner!
