Description

Native to East Asia, the fruit of this shrub is often used in Chinese medicine for a number of ailments. Its Chinese name, "wu wei zi", translates to five-flavor fruit because it is has all five flavors in traditional Chinese medicine, salty, sweet, sour, pungent (spicy), and bitter. It is known as an adaptogenic herb, which has a normalizing effect on the adrenal glads that regulate stress hormones.
